Lets HEAR Flowmaster vs Magnaflow
Since I havent had the chance to actually hear a magnaflow system on a new F-150 could anyone record it for us?
I just made a ghetto recording of my Flowmaster Super 40 Exhaust.
I plan to try and record using a good quality mic (not my mp3 player) and record it under load/driving conditions. It doesnt have as much beef in park.

How much do you like your Flowmasters. A lot of people on here seem to prefer the Magnaflow and I was wondering your opinion because I am still stuck on the two. Just like you said, sound comparisions would be great.
I like the Super 40s very much because inside the cab all you hear is a little rumble but outside its louder. There isnt a loud whurrr like on the older 40 series flows.
I cant compare because ive never heard or driven the Magnaflow systems alot of people here swear by.
The flowmaster cost $78.00 and installation with new pipes only cost $50.00. Had them dump the exhaust straight down after the muffler right before the axle.

I don't have a recording but I have owned both exhausts. I can tell you the Flowmaster super 40's are WAY loader than the Magnaflow (I had the Flowmaster removed). The Magnaflow (just installed last week) is quiter but still gives you the rumble that I like to hear. No drone with the Maganflow either at highway speeds. You will not hear it all the time like you do with the Flowmaster, you really know you have a exhaust mod with the FM.
I had what I thought was a very annoying vibration (like a hand sander) in the pedals, doors, steering wheel and seat. I had a Ford engineer go out with me on a test drive. He told me the vibration was from the Flowmaster and also the way it was mounted. Fortunately for me the dealership replaced it with the Magnaflow at no cost to me. Vibration solved
Nothing against the Flowmaster but from a performance perspective there is no competition and remember I am saying this from owning them both. While you wouldn't think the difference would be much, I can tell you that I am getting at least 1 to 2 miles to the gallon more with the Magnaflow. Low end torque is amazing. I am going to compare notes with Rockpick in another post to see if he is seeing the same MPG gains. Today I got 18.4 MPG going to work, I have never had anything above 16.3 with the FM. I have been watching the MPG everyday since the begining of January.
Sorry I sound like a MF salesman, I am not, I am just amazed at the difference....

Magnaflow has a deep throaty sound at idle and when you floor it, you know there’s a V8 under the hood. The best part is no cabin drone at any speed.

how do these mufflers sound with no converters? I think im fixing to have my 4 cats cut out and then run true duals. Im considering any type of glasspack/muffler to install then. Would i notice a slight low end torque/gas milage difference even with no conveerters?
Just to make things clear, I definately didn't see what the drone issue was with the Flowmaster. It is loader than the Magnaflow by far, but the so called "drone" never really bothered me. I like to hear what is going on under the hood.
If I didn't want to hear it, I could always crank up the Audiophile system to mind altering levels!!!

I had the super 40 series catback in my 00 mustang GT and my 03 mustang GT. And there is a huge difference in sound compared to the original 40 series (had them first on my 00). On my 03 I had installed the catback and I could notice a drone in the car, that was pretty damn loud. BUt I then installed this stuff...
and it quited it done to a low roar. Plus it elimaneted all the rattles the exhuast caused and the ones it didn't. I believe the total cost was about $100. $75 for the dynamat, and $25 for the Vblock liquid (1 gallon). Then I took the H-Pipe off and put a MRT H with magnaflow cats. Didn't increase the sound in the cabin, but when I rumped on it, IT WAS LOUD.
I'm going to go with this setup on my FX4 once it finally get's delivered. I plan on getting the FLO-17393 fot $369.95 at Summit, and then having an exhuast install some new piping and magnaflow cats.
The key to the drone though, is definetally put down some dynamat or any other sound deadner under your carpert. It also quites done the gravel that bounces under the car, and other driveline noises. As well as becomeing an insulation layer.
