We have an Auto Meter trans temp gauge in our truck. The sending unit is in a port labeled pressure test (or something like that). It may not be the best location but I didn't want to cut lines or tap the pan (as I had done with out last tow vehicle, may tap it when I change tranny fluid).
Temps are generally around 140 in city traffic on warm days. Towing temps (w/ 3300# popup trailer) can go up to about 190 climbing steep, slow switchbacks in the Sierras.
Nice piece of mind to know what up!

tranny temp

I was thinking about doing this myself, but where to mount the guage. putting the temp sensor in the pan woulg give a false reading as thats the fluid that has returned from being through the trans cooler. I think? I read in a magazine the temp sensor has to be in-line before it goes to the cooler to get a more acurate reading.
* was there an earlier post about this subject before?*
any one with suggestions
