According to Mike Troyer the Excalibrator yields at least 50% more horsepower than the 1714.

Not so much recently. I'd rather read threads on tuners than the "what's the biggest tire that will fit on this truck" threads that litter the 2004-2005 forum on a daily basis.

I bought a Predator Diablo tuner before I found this site and learned about Mike Troyer. It's also a good tuner but I really can't recommend any retailers for it. Research indicates that it has better numbers than the 1714 but the XCalibrator is supposed to be better than either one. Also the XCalibrator works on any late model vehicle, they don't have different models for different vehicles.

Nope. It isn't the right one for your truck anyway. The 99-03 version is different from the 04-05 version.
