DJM 2" shackles are here!

+1 to Stylin' Concepts too, ordered Wednesday, arrived today. I'll get some pics tomorrow, got off work early today and I don't really feel like crawling around on the ground to install 'em.

Piece of cake Quintin. I started on the driver side. Jacked the truck up just until the wheel came off the ground and set a jack stand on three chunks of 2 by 10 to get enough height. (I was using a wimpy a$$ jack stand & hydraulic jack) I positioned the stand under the front of the leaf spring. Then wrenched the two nuts off and took the bottom bolt out first then jacked up the axle a little so I had enough clearance to get the top bolt out. Put the new shackle on, tightened them up and took it off the jack stand. Went to the other side and repeated the process. The bolt head was 11/16 and the nut was 13/16.

Cool deal. But since I'm lazy and I want level ground (which I don't have at home) to take some good before and after pictures, I'll wait until I get to work tomorrow so I can use a rack and air tools.

Patience, patience...

Looks great!!

I may go with the 3" shackles seeing that the 2" shackles still give the truck somewhat of a raked look.

Thanks for the pics.

Thankee.

The pics don't really do it justice; I need to find someplace with more level ground, or park it in the grass. At certain angles, it still looks like it has a slight forward rake, but from other angles it looks like the front sits a bit higher than the rear. In either case, it's a big asthetic improvement from the stock ride height.

Hey Quintin, your truck looks great!

By the looks of those pics, I see you weren’t looking for blocks of wood to set the jack stand on. I just walked outside and checked my measurements. The front is 34 ½” and the rear is 35 ½”. I measured (centered on the hubcap) from the pavement to the bottom edge of the wheel well. If it were perfectly level, I think it would start to look nose high.

Jpdadeo, thankee.

The install went off without a hitch. Since I had a rack, I used a transmission jack under the shock mount to raise and lower the axle as I needed to. I'm gonna take some pics of it today.

I did a 2" Beltech drop shackle kit to my '04 Lariet Supercab (6.5 bed. A 4' level has on the bed rail shows that the rear is up just a small fraction of a bubble.
Did U do the pinion Shim kit? If so, who's and degree? I picked up a driveline vibration.

My shackles didn't come with any shims and I didn't install any. I've got a slight driveline vibration on acceleration from 30-40 mph, any higher or lower than that and it's not there. I might try to shim it later, but for now I'm not gonna worry about it.

Quintin,

I installed my Ground Force 2" drop shackles this afternoon. I put them in the 2" hole. When I test drove the truck I had a very slight driveline vibration from 22 MPH to about 30 MPH, not bad but just enough to know it was there. I came back home and installed the 2.5 degree shims that came in the kit and test drove it again. Vibe all gone. The shims worked. I am really pleased with the new look. Much better than the a$$ up in the air. I believe it even rides a little better. Seems like the rear end doesn't bounce as hard when hitting bumps. Now for the questions (you knew there was one lurking around here somewhere, didn't you?). Did you have your alignment checked after doing your shackles? Should I have mine checked since I dropped the axle from the springs to install the shims?
