This may be a silly question. but I want to make sure I'm going about this right.
Just got my Xm Commander. The Sat box has the 3.5mm "FM out" to be used with an FM modulator, but I notice it also has "audio out" which is a pair of RCA connectors. None of the specs I read mentioned these and the installation instructions don't mention them once.
But I assume, if I'm connecting to the RCAs on my dvd player, I can go from RCA to RCA instead of 3.5mm to RCA. Doesn't this make sense??
if the unit has the "rca" output option use that. it should be true "line level" output. I think the 3.5 mm fm out should be a much lower level as it is getting fed into the antennae (through fm modulator)
so use rca (which is the standard connector for "line" level) and you should be all set. it should be similar volume then as you switch from radio, to a dvd, to the aux.
try it out first with some short chords before you mount everything and route your longer wires.
hope this helps.

We've got a SuperCrew with a sunroof, so we don't have the overhead rails for the DVD player. We also have the Audiophile 6-disc with the MP3 logo on it. It has a button that says "DVD". Can we use this to hook our iPod into our system?
What's on the back of the Audiophile head units? Is there a connection for a DVD player?
Just a simple line level connection into the head unit would be great.
Thanks in advance!

so for now, factory dvd, or an fm modulator are the only ways to get aux inputs into the stereo.
hope this helps

yes, it would be nice. but..... the 04 and on radios have what is called CANBuss. an electrical buss system that allows many things to communicate, including the audio system. the dvd or aux button is only for the factory dvd player. there is no aux input for a device like Ipod except through the factory DVD. companies are working on aux adapters for this CANBuss system, but they are backward engineering it and it is taking a long time.

For those interested in connecting an iPod, this might be an option:
