Throttle response?

Will adding an open element air filter dramatically incease the throttle response? I pickup up a 2005 F-150 SuperCab Lariat and was a little disappointed with the throttle response. My other truck is a 1997 Dodge Ram and the throttle response is instant whereas the Ford seems to have a significant delay even when staying in a particular gear.
Im already looking into mods for the truck. Id like to replace the grill with a black XLT grill, 22 inch wheels and an intake but id like to knwow if it will help throttle response.

HIDPLANET- If you do a search on this topic you will find a ton of info.

The problem with the throttle on these trucks is that it is Drive- By-Wire, and pretty unresponsive. The free and not complete cure for this is to get your trucks computer re-flashed by the dealer. This will improve the throttle responce a little, but will still leave much to be desired.
The true cure to the problem is the Superchips 1714 Tuner, which will totally cure the throttle lag issue as well as give you better tranny shifting and MUCH better performance. It was the best $$ spent on my truck, bar none!

Thank you so much for your informative reply. It really helped me out. Question is, does the super chip do the same function as those handheld units that cost $300+? Or is a totally different type of program.

the superchip 1714 is a han held programmer. Its very easy to use and the performance difference is amazing.I can smoke the tires any time I want and there is absolutely no hesitation. You can also use it to change tire size, gear ratio, shift points, and read diagnostic codes. Believe me you will not be dissapointed.

Oh okay great! I will have to order one TONIGHT!
Since the truck is only 6 hours old in my possession I dont have the mods on it yet but plan to get wheels and tires plus intake and exhaust by the end of this week if I have time.
Thanks so much to a proud new owner of an 05' F-150!
By the way, where is the lowest price online to purchase the superchip?

-2005 F-150 Lariat Blk/Blk Super cab
-3.73 Limited Slip Rear
-5.4L Triton

I just noticed you have a 2005 F-150. The Superchips 1714 microtuner won't work with the 2005 F-150 trucks. They will be available sometime in the near future for the 2005 F-150's. I would recommended that you get the Xcalibrator 9300 instead because it delivers 50% more HP and torque than the 1714 microtuner, is custom tuned to your vehicle (you get 3 custom programs), and the Xcalibrator only cost $25 more than the 1714 microtuner. As far as where to look for the lowest price for the Xcalibrator, I would recommened that you give Mike at Troyer Performance a call (www.troyerperformance.com) because they give a very nice discount for F150online.com members plus you won't have to worry about having any kind of problems with your Xcalibrator custom tunes because Mike at TP has been doing custom tuning for many years on our trucks, so he's one of the world's best as far as tuning your vehicle safely for maximum performance. Just do a search on this forum for Troyer Performance to see what other F150online.com members have to say about Mike and the great job that he does for this online community.

Will using the 1714 microtuner or the Xcalibrator 9300 void my warranty?

Does the Superchip tuner improve fuel economy along with the performance? I'm wondering if I can offset the purchase with a potential fuel savings.

I've heard some people on this forum say it don't but when I asked my dealership they said it would void the warranty. if you can disconnect it and they don't know you have it when you bring it in for service . I don't know?
