Interior door handles

Has anyone removed or attempted to change the interior door handles? I have chrome and would like to change to simple XL black.

Question Relplacing Chrome Vents And Inside Door Handles With Black

If you think the interior chrome looks ghetto (in the tan interior/looks great in the gray interiors) and you'd like to get the black vents and handles, after doing some research I found you can find the replacement vents ringed in black pretty easy for the 04-05 XLT. It's the ones for the XL/STX, fit fine. The interior door handles are a little more restrictive. To get the black ones off the XL/STX, you have to have manual door locks/windows. If you have power windows/door locks your stuck with the chrome.

My question is:

Is there anything out there to cover the interior handles in black (other than painting them) like rubber (steering wheel cover type stuff) which would cover the chrome (and protect the chrome finish for resale).

The chrome just doesn't work with the light tan interiors.

Thanks!

you could try and use a two part rubber/silicone compound, and paint it on, when resale time comes round you should be able to peel it right off, i'd do a test first though to be sure.

Wow...I think the chrome looks great with my tan interior and leather...especially since the outside of the truck is black and chrome....would never want black plastic over the chrome. To each his own though.

Problem Solved (For Me Anyway)

Got the wife involved. She likes to work with leather and suggested some black stitched leather covers (like Harley handle grips without the tassels) over the handles. I about soiled myself when she suggested it!

Can't wait!

Got the black XL vents coming from www.ford-parts.com.
