Ford PATS Bypass

I recently ordered a security + remote start system for my truck, while awaiting arrival i am still wondering which system i should use, keyless or 'key underdash'

so far its either the 556u w/ the key

OR

ford PATS bypass kit found at the bottom of this page (is this 04 compat?)
http://www.powercallsirens.com/bypasskit.htm

any info is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

Are you using the Ford alarm+remote start? If so, then use the Ford PATS bypass kit. And $50 is way too much for that, I got mine on ebay for $20. Most other places sell it for $25 or 30.

My Ford remote start has been working flawless this winter.

if you are using the ford rmst system then ask for a 1L2Z pats kit its the only way to go, hiding a key under your dash just allows some one to steal your truck. and the kit is no more then 20 usd form your dealer because they are only 28 cnd.

if you're going to attempt your own install, here's a good site with the install guides and manuals:

another site to look at too http://www.installz.com/

BTW, if you do get a key type by-pass.......cut off the key part so it can not be used to start the truck.....all you need is the plastic body and do not cut too close to the body.....just enough for the key to be useless

i know wthat website is on the net but it is really only for us techs. i know its impossible to keep it leaking out. but remeber a lot of dealers will not warranty and parts or faults caused by the rmst system if you install incorrectly.
