I am installing my autospring kit on Saturday, and I have read the I need a 30mm deep socket. I cant see where I need to use the socket. The only place I can see is the bolt on the bottom of the strut. Now why cant I use a impact gun with a shallw socket on the head of the bolt and a wrench on the nut??? Help please....

 

K I read it again I dont think I need a deep a shallow should be fine..

 

Anyone is this true???

 

I used the 30mm deep and it made sense, because your never supposed to use the impact on the bolt head, only the nut...

 

BESIDES IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY THE BOLT HEAD WAS A DIFFERENT SIZE MAYBE 1 1/16 trust me use the socket on the nut its much easier

 

Is your truck '04/'05, noticed you have listed an '01(not sure if sizes are same) I actually installed mine w/ shallow socket on bolt and wrench on nut(I couldn't find a 30mm deep(think 1 3/16" is same) . I didn't use impact. The only reason for the 30mm deep would be to torque nut(correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the nut side is what needs to be torqued) since I didn't have 30mmdeep, I torqued bolt side. I re-tightened everything after a couple hundred miles.

 

K I am finsihed took 40 mins a side. Did not use a 30m socket used a 27m on bolt head and a wrench on the nut.
