steering column

when i go on a shell road, or a broken up street, my steering column feels loose. I checked it and i cannot find anything except for when i go under the hood and grab the column. It actually has play in it. Does anyone else have this problem?

i forgot to mention above that this is not the "clicking" noise that i found in the search, it really feels like something is loose

The last thing you need is an accident if something actually does come loose. Take your truck to the dealer and have it checked!

i am asking if anyone has experienced this or knows what it might be so i don't have to go to the dealer. It rides wonderful on the road and bumps, just regular steering wheel nimble. it only happens when i am on a shell road or rather washboard conditions.

There should be no play in the steering column. Take it to the dealer. It is just a matter of time before you get the shaking on even a smooth surface, and by that time, it will be more that probably just tightening a bolt or replacing a drive link.
