Why don't you just fill it up on your way home??? That would solve this problem. I usually fill up between 1/4 and 1/2. Why would you want to disconnect the fuel buzzer? It's trying to tell you to fill up or your going to be taking the Nike express (walking).

04fx4Scab,

I'm not sure how it works in a FX4 but to clear the "low fuel" message in the message center in a Lariat you have to press reset. FX4 doesn't have a message center...Right? So I'm not sure what you guys have to do.

i think only lariats (message center) have it.

My FX4 has it. It'll just beep Once though and it goes off with close to a gallon in the tank. If you get this message I suggest you take dzervit's advise!

Thats why I bought an FX4... so I dont have to listen to the low fuel buzzer!
Besides, they get better gas mileage than the Lariat

I guess if you like riding around in an economy truck then the FX4 is for you. You FX4 owners rank right up there with the Chebby WT owners. FX4's even have power windows? The am radio option must be nice.

I am just kidding,,, before I get flamed. I owned an 2002 bright red FX4 before I bought my 2004 Lariat

So, does anyone have an answer on how to disable the message center low fuel message? I didn't see anything in the owner's manual.

I dispise low fuel chimes, especially ones that repeat every 10 minutes. If I wanted to fill up the tank 50 miles sooner than I needed to, I'd have bought a smaller tank.

I buy my gas on the installation, where it is around $ .10 cheaper per gallon. I know cheap gas, is another thread, I don’t worry about the performance. It is a truck, and I drive it like such. It is just an inconvenience to get gas during work days, I usually get it on Saturday or Sunday. Because of the short drive I can go 3-4 days with the low fuel light on.

But, when my "miles to empty" is around 10-15 or so, the most I can put in the tank is 24-25 gallons. Having a 30 gallon tank, this leads me to believe that I should still have at around 5 gallons in reserve.

I have been pressing the reset button, to clear the low fuel message but, I will just leave it diaplay "low fuel" so it doesn't beep anymore.

I've run mine down to '0 miles until empty' and filled 'er up with 28.? gallons of the good stuff. In addition to the moron alert, they give you plenty of reserves to make it to your local fillin' station. This truck is pretty much stupid-proof.

Ford did a good job in understanding the typical Lariat owner and designed the truck to suit them!
On the economy trucks, like the FX4, they spent all of their efforts on making it look cool!!

Actually, they know FX4 and below owners can't read or write, so a cool message center that tells you things would be wasted. Instead you get a little beep and a light on your dash with a pic of a fuel pump... poor uneducated bastards!
