Drivers Keypad Code?
I recently purchased a used 2004 F150 Lariat with drivers side keypad. Where can I find the manufacturers 5 digit code? I have no paperwork that was provided that has this code. I have the keycode to make duplicate keys. The local Ford dealer wants $80.00 to give me the code. I've seen on various forums that it can be in various places (behind rear seat, behind fuse panel, on drivers side firewall). I feel like I've spent more time laying on the floor looking up than I have behind the wheel driving. Can anyone provide some assistance?
It's on the driver's door module, mounted in the driver's door. Gotta remove the panel to see it though. Whereabouts in Georgia are you? If you're somewhere in the Chattahoochee/Muscogee county area, I might be able to help you out.
I forgot my code once and lost the little card with it on there. All I did was call the person who sold it to me. They have it on their paperwork for your truck. Do not pay a penny.
Are you sure that the dealer didn't mean $80 to make new keys? If you need new keys, just ask them to cut you a key. You can program it yourself by using the manual. It's in there. Save yourself about $60 if you need a spare key.

The dealer wants $80.00 to give you the code? It might take them all of five minutes to put it on the machine and read the code. My truck came with the wrong # and my dealers service department read the code in less than 5 min. That sound like a rip off; $80. bucks

And in this case I agree, that sounds like an hour's worth of labor, which is complete and total BS just to retrieve the keyless entry number. I'd either take the truck back to whoever he bought it from, or assuming he's somewhere in my area, bring it to me and I'll pull it for free.

I didn't purchase it from a dealer or from the original owner. No one has the "paperwork" and I don't want to spend $80 from the local Ford dealer. They are not demonstrating that they want my business either. What I need is to know exactly where the code is located.

Well, that was fun, tore apart the door, found a bunch of numbers, two 5 digit numbers. One on the connector underneath the door lock button on the armrest, and one on a sticker on the inside of the door, on the keypad assembly. Neither of them worked for me.

Thanks for the update Mark. I had a gut feeling Quintin's advise wasn't right. Why would Ford have you disassemble a door panel to obtain a code? From looking at other posts on other forum's its attached to either a grey or black "module" under the dash. The module is 3-4 inches in size. And we may need to remove it to "look behind" it to get the code. Unfortuneatly I can't try this today as work is getting in the way of fun. I'll try tomorrow. If you find something let me know. I'll do the same if I find something as well.

The default 5 digit code will only work if you disconnect the battery for a while.
Try that, tell us what happens.
