Several years ago (circa intro of the '97 F150), I read a review that stated that the F150 tailgate was the single most stolen vehicular item in Texas. Still true? Don't know, but I keep mine locked.

Always leave mine locked, for some reason people love our tailgates.

Since this is my first truck, I had no idea this was even an issue. Looks like it will start getting locked on a regular basis. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm building a vacation home out of tailgates and it's not even half finished yet.

(at least until I get a roof on the dang thing)

I've never locked my tailgate, I don't lock my house either.....

but I also live in Canada, it's too cold to steal stuff,,,,,,,jk

I wonder if someone is robbing my house and stealling my tailgate right now ?,

Yah, Someone stole my tailgate yesterday and but replaced it with one that was in the exact same shape. Weird!
