Silblades
Silblades
After reading the glowing reviews on SILBLADES from ROCKPICK & others, I decided to put some on and see how they do.
It actually rained not 10 minutes after I was finished so the rumor of them preventing rain has not been verified in the Communist Peoples Republic...

Anyway, I never thought I could be impressed with something so simple as wipers but these things rock... MUCH, MUCH , MUCH better than Motorcraft blades. Now only time will tell how long they last. I called the # on their website and they indeed said that if they fail any time in 5 years, I get a new one. I went with 22" (20" is stock) and re-indexed the drivers side arm as discussed in another thread. My better results and the arms look symetrical now.
Point worth mentioning: This is the first & LAST time I will order from ttstuff.com. The box with my blades in it had a *****ing FOOTPRINT on it and both blades were bent. I mananged to bend them into shape and get them to work with out any ill effects but I wasn't happy. I don't know whether to blame them or UPS. Either way, since they are guaranteed for 5 years, I think I will just pay the extra cash and buy them at PEPBOYS or somewhere.

Didn't have to do anything special to the blades. You know the dirty part of the window the blade doesn't wipe? Measure 1" on both end of the stock blades and thats where a 22" blade will end.
The other thing I did was to re-index the wiper arm itself. I saw is as a suggestion somewhere on this message board. It's a 2 minute process that makes sense. On the 04/05's there is the 5" wide section on the far drivers side of the windshield the wiper doesn't reach. I pulled the arm, removed the pressed in index key, and rotated the arm 2 teeth on the post. I don't see the key making much difference other than showing the guys at the factory where to set the arm. I always thought the passenger side balde sat higher at rest than the driver side. I have them set symetrically now and the un-wiped portion of the windshield is only 3" now.

While we're on the topic of wiper blades, can some willing guinea pig try these out for me...

Wow...1am, I got bored, went to the garage...vavoom...did the re-indexing thing for my wipers and its good!!!
When I saw posts saying it took 2 second, I thought it was an exageration....its true. Ive never taken of wiper arms that easy before, usually has a damn bolt or something.
Thanks...cant wait for the silblades to come in.
