almost every post regarding someone just installing an air intake has some comment about the new sound, whether their wife hates it, they love it, it's not that loud, etc. You're the only person I know with a TB spacer...

My first intake i never really noticed any sound from it, and definatly no whistling sound. I think your intake must have the throtle body spacer incorperated into the intake. The airraid spacer was $100 addon to the intake and it definately makes a whistling sound when i step on the gas. Took me a few weeks to get used to it, but i hardly hear it now. I do like the look of your setup better than mine though. Unfortunatley for me i had little choice as my hood was made with the airraid intake as the source for its ram air.

P.S. here are the links if anyone cares for the info.

as you can see from the pics, my intake is the same as inbred's, and mine has "the sound" also. You don't hear it when at idle or slow acceleration but, about 1/2 throttle or WOT you definitely hear "the sound"! No throttle body spacer with mine.

It's not overbearing at all, and I like the way my exhuast sounds now. Really makes those duals sing!!

It reminds me of how the old 4BL carbs sounded like when you opened it up!!

i installed the volant intake on my 04 supercrew 4.6. The install went great except that they forgot to include the mass air meter gasket, but i bought some gasket material and made my own. There definately is a noticeable sound difference between the stock set-up and the volant set-up. Around half throttle you can hear the whistle, but if you let off the gas just a little or give it a little it stops. I did not install the throttle body spacer, i don't know if they even make it for the 4.6. At full throttle there is a very deep V8 throaty sound, not obnoxious but you definately know that there is a v8 under the hood now. I will take pictures if anyone would like to see. Take it easy
