Reverse Sensor, Is this something I can add on to my exisiting truck? I want the factory one that itegrates with the radio. I donot want any camera system.

you would be cheaper going with the camera system. I have heard from the dealer that it is almost impossible to add it if it did not come from the factory.

Do a google search for reverse sensors and you’ll get mega hits. There are many different systems available from license plate brackets all the way up to sophisticated systems. You will find something to your liking I’m sure.

Like JP mentioned, there are oodles of reverse sensing 'add-on' kits that you can put in. While they won't intergrate with the radio like a factory system, it will, however, save you from a ding if you're getting close.

It'll still have an audible beep and be just as functional... While I haven't seen it done with a new body style F-150, I know that MikeF150 added one to his 02 King Ranch.

I haven't tried checking into retrofitting the factory reverse park aid just yet...my reasoning is, you have to have the factory tow package to have it. So, if you have the tow package, but not RPA, maybe all the wiring is still there, just not the components, ie. sensors, module, deactivation switch, maybe a jumper harness or two. It's cheaper for Uncle Henry just to build <x> number of wiring harnesses and add or remove components as trucks are built instead of building specific wiring harnesses around different options. My Lariat has the tow package, one of these days I'll start taking things apart to see if the wiring's there.

Just a thought.

I have it on my truck and the way iot seems to work is there are like 4 sensors on my bumper ..2 inner 2 outter... the beeping doesent come from the radio because when i have my radio loud i cant hear it ...I would think the wireing wouldnt be easy and im sure it would be expensive....sensors..switches...wireing...im sure there is some type of electronic module that the sensors plug into and then drilling holes in the bumper and running wires from outside to inside the truck..etc etc ...

i priced all components from ford right down to the dash panel its outrageous like 500+dollars for just the parts and i get jobber prices. also i looked at the wiring harness the plug isnt visible .unless u have too split the factory wire loom? on the truck with RVS the plug splits right off the main harness above the spare tire at those prices forget it. go after market its not like these trucks will ever become collector items.

Mine doesn't dim the radio either (2005 F-150 SCREW) but, as I recall some mentioning, the early builds may have done this. In short, it would actually either dim the radio or play the audible beeps on the speakers...

My RSS lowers the stereo volume but the beeping tone doesn’t come from the stereo speakers, the RSS has its own independent tone generator.

There you have it... I wasn't sure how that worked.

Like Rmanf150 though, my volume doesn't lower... they seem to be totally independent systems.
