Vibe fixed by dealer on 'final attempt'...

I had the vib up until yesterday. I had the truck into the dealer 4 times with no fix. So I filed my DSB paperwork and setup my appointment for the 'final fix'.

When I dropped it off at the dealer and picked up my rental I assumed they would have it for a few days before they gave my truck back. Low and behold I got a call that night saying the truck was fixed and to come pick it up.

Of course I had heard that before so I just assumed it was still vibrating and the DSB process could move forward.

But I have to say, I think the vibe is gone. The only fixes applied to my truck were the new driveshaft AND the vibration dampner. I havent looked under the truck to see what the dampner looks like but it did fix the issue. I have seen pics of the dampners on the end of the leaf springs but I didnt see that same thing on my truck.

Just wanted to give my experience to those who had the issue.

Now I get to wait till the new Mustang Cobra comes out and will be trading the truck in then. New Cobra is rumored to have 5.4 with supercharger. They are estimating 500hp from factory!!!

Yep, I just pray the rumors about the s/c'd 5.4 are true. If they bought back my truck I was thinking of getting a 05 GT and putting a supercharger on it (Vortech and Paxton already have kits I believe....

But I would much rather have the Cobra. 500hp with a warranty!!!!

Everything keeps pointing back to the driveshaft on these vibration issues. They are too heavy and too long and the slightest out-of-round will translate into major vibration issues.

I will say that the fourth (of 5) visit was to replace the driveshaft. It actually made it worse if anything.

The last visit (the final attempt visit) was where they put the vibration dampner on. That is what fixed it. Although I have heard of dealers re-clocking the driveshafts so maybe they did that while mine was in the shop. But that was not mentioned on the ticket so I dont think they did that.

The damper did nothing for me. Could not tell any difference. It's a laughable pos if ya ask me. I know mine is DS/rear-end related but they had 7 chances to fix it and decided my vibe was normal on the 7th visit.

The dampner is just a boat anchor and nothing more. I would say that the drive shaft replacement did the trick. They may have re-indexed the drive shaft as well.
