Interior lights

Anyone know a fix so that the interior lights stay on when the truck is started and doors open? Right now, if you want to warm up your truck before hand, start it with the door open, your sitting in the dark already.

You could always reach over and roll the dimmer switch up until the interior lights are on... I know that's the obvious answer but, short of that, I'd say it's going to be very very tricky.

Also, not sure if you know or not but, even turning the interior lights on with the dimmer switch has it's limitations in that it will shut itself off after a certain time frame regardless of whether or not it's in the 'on' position.

Also, turning on your interior lights will turn on the bed light. Sucks for people driving behind you if you're rolling.

Also, you cannot turn on only the interior light in the center of the roof. If you want it on you have to also turn on the lights in the front roof area. I dont understand why they did'nt at least put a switch on the center roof light.

BUT>>>>>>>>>>>>>............ I love my truck !

Question Why did Ford do that?

I have been wondering why the interior lights go off when you start the truck with the door open too. Why did Ford do that?

If you reach up and push on the plastic lens that will allow the light to stay on. And the bed light to stay off. It's in the owners manual people!

BTW the lights turn off with the door open because it's part of the battery saver feature. Prevents the battery going dead because of something being left on.

Tbird69,

Let me get this straight, my truck is running with the door open and I need the light turned off to save the battery??? I don't think so. The battery saver feature is just a timer and doesn't have anything to do with this behaviour.

The interior lights are timed whether the engine is running or not! Like I said already, if you want the lights to stay on then reach up and push the lens. That will allow them to stay on for as long as you like!

this seems very obvious... wonder why so many head straight for the master interior light switch on the dash?

I remember when the cargo light used to be on its own switch in Fords and Chevys. Wish they were still that way because it's hard to see stuff in your bed at night when the interior lights are on to. Also it is illegal to go down the road with it on although its rarely enforced.
