Rattle from Dash

Anyone else get a metallic, growling or rattle from the what sounds like the dash area or engine compartment, when you put the auto transmission in gear? This started a couple of weeks ago and I thought it might have had something to do with all the 4x4 use I'd been putting on the truck (darn snow). The 4x4 doesn't matter though as it does it in 2WD also. This is very noticable when the truck has set overnight and first used the next day. The noise seems to disappear after a few miles. The noise doesn't start until you put the transmission in gear, it's not there at all with the engine running and tranmission in neutral. Because it only is there for a mile or so I'd never be able to drive into the dealer and have them hear it. I really didn't want to leave it over night with them if there maybe a TSB out on this issue. Any ideas? Thanks troops

My 04 Reg cab XLT has rattles in the dash area when the truck is cold - which is frequent here in Upper Michigan - but it's a rattle that stops when I press on the center of the dash and when the truck warms up inside. I am going to have the dealer adjust the driver side doors as they rattle and creak a lot on rough roads. Seems like the truck is prone to rattles and since it's new I don't want to just turn up the radio.

Yep, this noise started when the temps started dropping guess I'll have them check it out. Bob

It's pretty much just the plastic parts, when they're cold they
talk a little. My Jeep did it every winter, both my company trucks do it, a Chevy and a Dodge, and once in a while ( this past Sat. )
my Big F did it.( that's what i call my truck, lol ) After warm up all is back to normal. I doubt that a dealer could help with that issue. Though Bob Chapmans door rattle is a whole other thing.....

Hummm, well it could be just the plastic parts. I've has this F150 over a year now and it wasn't happening until a couple of weeks ago. Thing is the noise is there even if the interior of the cab has been heated up. It's there as soon as you put a load on the drivetrain, not before. It does seem to go away after awhile BUT, I noticed it yesterday while creeping out of an uphill stop sign behind tall snow banks, definately there as I feathered the throttle to creep out for better visability. This was even after driving around town for a few mile. It's got me stumped.
