Electrical Fire Due to CC Malfunction

A co-worker of mine mentioned today that Ford is experiencing problems with the cruise control switch failing on the 2004-05 P221, U222 and U228 and causing an electrical fire. He knows of 14-15 events to date. Does anyone have any information about this?

I heard a little blurb on TV, but I thought it was older models?

Wrong information guys....it's not the 2004 and 2005 f150's. I read plenty on the internet about this problem. I think the years were 99 and 2000?? I could be wrong on the years, but it was on the older style f150's.

You don't have to worry about a thing with these new trucks. If you want to know more information, search on the internet under f150 cruise control fires and you will read lots on info and the years it was affecting.

The real skinny.....

"The recall involves approximately 792,000 vehicles, including F-150 pickup trucks, Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigator SUVs from the 2000 model year that are equipped with a speed control switch. Also included in the recall are certain F-150 SuperCrew trucks that were built through August 7, 2001 and are equipped with speed control."

In Houston, the local news (ABC13), has been advertising an investigation for the past few days on the F150 that will air tonight called "Ford Under Fire." At 11am this morning the first report was on Fords recall affecting all "2000 F150s, Navigators/Expeditions and some 2001 F150 supercrews." They went on and showed clips from the investigation... a truck in the driveway burning, a ladys house that burned down when the truck "popped" in the garage and lit the place up and showed a lot filled w/ damaged F150s. They then stated that the switch in question has been installed on other Fords and the "Largest recall in Automotive history" could be underway soon. Great.
