key fobs build ford tuff

My spare key/fob recently went through a cycle in the washing machine and half a cycle in the dryer. Once i found out i immediately went outside and tried it and it worked fine. Not only am i glad i dont need to get a new fob ( arent they around 100$), i was pretty impressed that it withstood the vigors of my moms washing machine.

that's cool it works, but I'm sure if you had to you could find a replacement on Ebay fairly cheap like $10 or $20 and program it yourself for your truck.

Would suggest you get a third set (key and remote) now and program it - you need 2 to program the third. Without it, you need the dealer to program it and that is almost as expensive as having to take off your bumper (saw your other message;-).

^hey, I don't personally know how to program the OEM key fobs, but I think it's in the owner's manual?

I got the Ford/Code Alarm remote start and in that owner's manual, it explains how to program those key fobs.

It's in the owner's manual, page 90 of the 2004 Owner's Guide.

Unlike the ignition key, you don't need two key fobs to add an additional one. You do need to program all the key fobs at once since the first steps erase the truck's knowledge of all fobs.

The ignition key is the one you want to get a spare of right away. If you don't have two keys you can't add more (without the dealer's help.) With a spare, you still have two so you can replace a lost key easily.
