Sgt.Pepper,
That's about what it looks like here. Had a little fun in the snow before the plow came down the road. Now that the roads are clear I guess I'll only have my snowmobile to play with in the snow until we get another good snow store for me to have some fun in my truck with. The only bad part about the snow is all the salt on my truck now that the plows have gone through to clear the roads. Oh well, still plenty fun to play in.

Happy G,

Anyway has anybody used the Michelin Cross Terain SUV tires? I don't go off roading very much so I would like to find a tire that gives the smoothest ride and comfort. Any suggestions
Check out the Michelin LTX line of tires for your truck. Great traction in the snow and quiet on the highway.

I still have a slight vibration but I'm sure if they balance these tires it will go away. 2000 miles right now.

Happy G,

I had Michelin Cross Terains on my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (4x4). I never put them to the test off-road, but they were smooth as silk on the highway and didn't look bad on the Jeep. I had some Michelin X-One's on mama's old minivan and I put ~65K on them (warranted to 80K) and got a new set for free when I went to buy another set of the same tire. Great customer service, as far as I am concerned.

I want to run Michelin's on my FX4, but need to see the LTXs that inbred mentioned. I have the BFG Rugged Traills that came on my truck and as much as I dislike them (not sure why), I can't bring myself to spend the $$$ to replace perfectly good tires when other mods (tuner, grill guard etc) are calling. I was very happy with Michelin's and always look to Michelin first when I buy tires. Hopefully, they'll have some 18" AT tires out soon.

If you want a civilized ride and aren't too concerned about having a very aggresive, off-road "look", I think you'll be happy with the Michelin Cross Terrains.

Inbred,

We have a foot or so of snow on the ground. Its blowing and drifting today. I don't live too far from Austin. The roads are snow packed and icy today.

Thanks for the replies, and wattman1 I'm with you. I don't want to replace a brand new set of tires, but when that time comes I want to be educated. From what I've seen the Michelins are the smoothest riding tires out there.

I wish I had snow to play in.. I spent 5 years in Marquette, MI tooling around in an '87 Cutlass. (never got stuck, BTW) Now that I've got a truck that would make the snow fun, I'm stuck in FL.. Grr..

The truck in 4wd is unstoppable. But I get a good amount of fish tailing and spinning in 2wd. It might be the heavy right foot, or the fat tires floating on the snow, but it blazes the trails. Went to Wintergreen over the weekend and did some snowy trails. The truck faired well, didnt get stuck in 2wd but spun a fair amount.

I've got the Generals on my '05 and I'm somewhat pleasantly surprised. We got about 20 inches of snow this past weekend and it was all of 2 degrees out there. My conclusions? Compared to the Goodyears on my '97, '99, and '02, the Generals are better at pulling away from a stop and stopping - even in 2WD. They appear to be about the same (not so hot) in what I'll call "lateral traction." That's where they don't change directions so hot. (The front end washes out / understeers and / or the back end sashays from side to side.) Overall though, they beat out the Goodyears. I can live with them.
