4wd hi, low speed vibration

Hey I am not sure if this is normal so I thought I would post for an answer.
Today I was driving down the road from red light to red light in 4wd hi. We got hit with a good amount of snow for DC and the roads werent plowed so it was a good time to use it (or fun if nothing else). All the driving was straight with no turns. Anyways the thing is, while accelerating from a stop the truck tends to have a good amount of vibration and at some points it would shake enough to seem a little drastic and not normal. The thing is I have little experience with this in 4wd on smooth roads so I never noticed the vibration and maybe thought it was the trail if I did. Anyway, I wonder how much of this is normal. I read one post from Inbred that said more vibe is normal. Any ideas, any similar experience? Thanks.

Was it just on accelerating? Would snow pac inside the wheels cause that at even low speeds?

Wasn't that snow fun?! And I thought I wasn't going to like being assigned to the D.C area! I always notice going in reverse, it seems like I have to hit the gas harder. Didn't notice a vibration, but it's the first time I've had it in 4wdHI.
I was panicked....just bought my truck on Sat. BTW, you're truck is awesome.

It's normal. The front and rear diffs are locked together through the transfer case. If a wheel/axle has less grip it will cause some vibe or shudder as the other axle moves you. nothing to worry about.

I was hoping to hear that. It kinda goes unsaid then.
Zoo thanks for the comments. For DC this is a lot of snow, I am from Upstate ny so this is a light dusting. lol
Yeah you have to give it more gas, it needs a little more to get those axles goin. Congrats on the new truck. Cant wait to see you mod it up.
Enjoy the weather.

Talking

Hey -thanks for the welcome.... I'd just found this board a few weeks ago with my old truck.

All the mods you guys do are outstanding. I envy your ability to do the alot of the mods yourself. I've only dabbled in cosmetic mods--grill, mirrors, etc.

I'm getting the windows tinted and a sub installed next w/e. Then I want to look into having it leveled. Any recommendations for which company is better? The ride is so quiet I'm unsure if i want a cat back exhaust, usually I'm all for the rumble any opinions?

I've got a ton of questions................ see ya later!

Zoo this board is packed with answers for you. The best thing to do is use the forum search function to find the answers to things you think are common like, exhaust, intakes, tuners, lifts, stereos, level kits, etc. Then post a thread when you need more info, or directly email someone for your answer. A lot of the time a new thread that says, "Has anyone ever heard of Troyer and Super Chips Tuners?" Doesnt get that much of a response because its like going to a baseball game and asking what the score is when you are right in front of the scoreboard.
The subs will sound great and the tint is a good choice too. For some quick help:

Sound systems talk to: Dzervit, Dupis
Lifts/Tires: BigSherm, Wandell, me, Ristuccia
Speed/Performance: Hellbound
Politics: Fatman

Anyways, point is, lots of good info on here with lots of knowledgeable guys. We all have come on here looking for help and stuck around for helping others and getting more info on our trucks.

Good luck and post some photos.

Thanks... I've been reading thru posts. You are right tons of info! Can't wait to get the subs, tint, & nerf bars put on...Just trying to schedule it around work.
Guess I'll have to take the bleck outta my Maryland location. I think I'm warming up to it now! Didn't think I'd find any truck enthusiasts...everybody I work w/ gives me sh*t for driving a truck....whatever....you can take the girl outta the country.... Can't believe how dirty it got in a week, pix coming soon...

There's a sweet Lariat on ebay and I love the bull bar & bug shield, it's painted the arizona beige to match and it's sporting 325's..... guess I'll be searching for some paint shops.

thanx again Heather

Yeah not many of us truck people in this area either. The minute I put the lift in it I all of a sudden became the resident redneck. Oh well. I love this truck and towering over all the moms in their suvs. Once the warranty expires I will be adding a body lift to it as well. The 6inch lift is nice but it needs to be a little more pronounced.
Good luck with the mods. My truck is white from all the salt. Be sure to post pics.

Umm this is one other possible...sometime little ice or snow got stuck on rims that caused tire balanced a bit off and caused some vibrating.
it happened to me.. so i just clean rims up and its smoothing in 4x4...

YOMAN!
