In 2005 will the U.S.A have new vehicles delivered with Daytime Running Lamps as standard issue??

Will these operate in the low beam at aprox 60% brillance??

or will additional DRL lights be supplied??

Will the added DRL lamps extinguish at night time??

Or will and illuminated on/off switch be supplied on the unit
for the added DRL lamps??

Will fog lamps have a seperate illuminated on/off switch supplied??

Will fog lamps operate with the low beam operations ??

Will fog lamps operate with the high beam operations??

With California's new law that started Jan 1 2005, that you must have your lights on if you have your windshiled wipers on, it makes sense that Ford just bite the bullet and install the DLR as factory.

 

Even if DRLs were to become standard on Fords, I doubt fog lamp operation would be any different than now. I also believe, that if the decision was made to go with DRLs, new designs or updates would get separate lamps while existing, largely unmodified designs would get the reduced power lights. This methodology is what GM did to get DRLs into production in the mid-90s.

 

they already do DRL for Canada so I would imagine they same set up would be used (as it is already designed) if DRL was used in the US.


They are high beams running reduced power (otherwise your low beams would require replacing every 6 months)


The are overridden when the headlights are turned on (manually or with auto lights)

There is no switch. All other factors are the same as US trucks as far as what works with what.

 

They better not put that crap in future models. That will be mod #1 if they do... stupid DRLs..

 

Why would it make sense? DRL's are not the same as low-beams.

The Kalifornia law doesn't state that the car has to turn the lights on, does it?

 

AB 1854 Changes the CVC to require use of your headlights whenever weather conditions require you to use your windshild wipers.

they have changed when this goes into affect, was to be 1/1/05... now 7/1/05

 

What good are DLR in the rain anyway? You still wont have tail lights. Turn them sum bishes on yourself.

I agree with DZervIt.....#1 MOD...I dont want that crap on my truck.

 

Here in the highways operations in Canada starting in B.C we equipped a large fleet of vehicles cars, pickups and trucks up to 5 ton tandem units with the low beam lower wattage installation DRL

And had very good success in prevention of frontal collision accidents


And had no problems with the low beam burn out or aging previously mentioned

We prefer these to the additional lamps that on some units do not extinguish at nigh time.

And in the winter time many of the snow plow units operate
multi shifts for 5-6 months of winter

We are forced to pay for something that the government have deemed necessary to protect the people that are too stupid to turn the lights on themselves. Still we see stupid people that drive in rain, fog or snow with only the DRL on and no tail lights - their response is "well I can see where I'm going" Duhhhhhhh!
I'm sure that we don't have all the stupid drivers here in Canada.

 

DRL...save lives.....they are a good thing to have.

on all vehicals in cdn now you dont need to switch on your lights anymore.

The sensor on the dash turns them full on at dusk.

autolamps and DRL are 2 different things.

I see so many fools driving at night with only DRLs on thinking they have autolamps (losers dont even realize they have no taillights)

 

many folks are basically happy with the D.R.L in Canada

With the exception of vehicles that have chosen to install
2 additional D.R.L lamps

That cannot be extinguished at night

Or are not designed into the operation of Low beam lamps
