Mudflaps

I have seen some complaints here in the forum that certain mudflaps fit poorly with the factory flares installed.

I would appreciate suggestions regarding flaps since the mud flying up onto the truck drived me nuts!

Thanks
Frank

I have the factory mud flaps on my truck and have gaps between the fender flares and the mud flap. I would look for something other than the factory flaps.

Hey Frank........ I originally bought the Ford molded mud flaps from a local dealership and returned them the next day as I was not happy with the fit... gaps, etc.... I ended up going with some basic good ol' rubber flaps from Auto-Zone that just bolt on to the inner edge of the fender well. For both the front and rear I was able to use the factory mounting locations so no drilling was necessary. For me these will be coming off in the spring as sand, salt and snow is all I installed them for. Overall I think they look great, are not really noticeable and are cheap to boot! Good luck.

Wow, I guess I got the good set of Ford factory mudflaps. Mine fit great, the fit right to the contour of the molding. I highly recommend these mudflaps!

If you go with the factory mud flaps, just make sure you get the correct set. They have four different part numbers. 4x4 with and without flare and 4x2 with and without flare.

Do a search and you can find the part numbers.

They are hard plastic so don't expect them to fit like the older model, hard rubber flaps.

The ones I got from Ford fits my XLT (no flares) perfectly with no drilling.

My factory flaps fit perfectly. As said earlier, just make sure the correct ones are ordered for your bodystyle.

Well the mudflaps i have on my truck are great, a little on the heavy side, but they are practically indestructable.
As well they bolt into the factory holes so they are easy to install.
I have a few pics in my gallery that show the mud flaps so you can see for yourself.

I also had trouble with the factory mud gaurds, check out my gallery. I have put on Huskey molded gaurds now, they fit alot better. One thing that I have been seeing is rock chips. The front tires a picking up rocks and there are hitting the front edge of the box. The edge that is near the cab. I will post pics soon. The rocks are chewing this edge up pretty good and I really don't do alot of gravel driving. I have less then 5000 miles. The front flap needs to be longer, at least on the 4X4's.

I installed the Ford moulded flaps on mine. They fit well and you do need to make sure you get the right ones for your vehicle.

I found that the Ford Mudflaps fit very well. Bu you do have to make sure you get the correct With Flairs/Without Flairs part. I was having problems driving in snowy weather, as I was driving, a small snow bank was building up on the tube steps. When I stopped and went to get out of the truck, I had to push the car door hard because the snow on the tub Steps was built up against the door fairly high.

Since the Mud Flaps were installed, no more mucky tub step problems
