i am trying to decide if i should buy a nav system for my truck or if i should buy 285/60 r18 nitto terra grapplers. the only question i have is are those tires any bigger than the stock BFG's that come with the fx4 package?? and also do yall know any good nav systems??
Assuming your truck came with 275/65/18s the new tires you are looking at will not be any larger, and may actually be a bit smaller (height wise). In terms or the Nav or tires, it depends how often you don't know where you are going. Do you do a lot of driving out of town, trips, etc.....? How often would you really use it ? I would go with a leveling kit (if you don't already have it) and probably a larger tire, but stick with the nittos.
well i kind of have a need for both, i am a firefighter and there are times where i have no clue where im going, and there are also time when i need a more agressive tread pattern to get to those places. i already have a leveling kit, and i would like to get the 325/65's but the guy at the tire place said that mounting them on the stock rim is not a good idea because they would wear in the middle and would only last a couple of months. so now i really dont know what to do

The stock 275/65/18s have a 32.1 inch diameter.
The 285/60/18s have a 31.5 inch diameter.

If you get tires that have different outside dimensions than stock, You can adjust your speedo with a programmer. (super tuner etc.). Also, the tuning makes the truck run and shift so much better than stock...Kevin
I hate to keep saying this, but you are the only one who can answer your question. What you have to do is ask yourself some questions like:
Can I buy one first then the other later?
If so, Have I needed more aggresive tires more often than I have needed a nav. sys.?
Which would get more use over a certain time frame?
If I buy the nav. sys. first, can I save up enough money later to buy new tires AND wheels to get the size I really want?
There may be more questions you can ask yourself but this is a start. Hope it can help you make a final decision, Good Luck.

Well, since nobody has addressed the nav system part of your question, I'll jump in on that. I rented a Hertz car with the NeverLost system a year ago while on vacation. It was accurate and easy to use - downright intuitive. I was so impressed, I just bought a Magellan Roadmaster 700, which is the same system as the NeverLost, but portable, for myself. I love it almost as much as my F150! And I take it with me on business trips.
So. Which to get? If you do a lot of freeway driving by yourself in places you've never been before (I do!), then the Magellan is a real safety issue. I'd get that first. But if you drive places you've already been, or you have somebody along who can read the map for you, go for the tires.
