How much more horsepower will the shaker hood give me. I am going to get one for my birthday in march and was wondering how it will boost me up.

I have a love hate for them. I'd be interested on the power increase, but don't see it being any better then airaid or the likes.

I would probally get one, but its just a show factor with a turbo.

 

Besides looks and increasing aerodynamic drag, what do those hoods do?

Is it supposed to cool down the intake plenum?

 

its a ram air effect. It will add minimal hp i would imagine

 

Looks are all you will gain. Definately not a performance mod.

Trust me, it is mainly looks. I am currently trading in my Mach1, so I have a little experience. Unless the filter is mounted flat under the shaker and then the intake under that, you are wasting your time on performance. With the Mach by the time the air goes through all the covers in the tube you lose 90 percent of it.
Also the filter box ussually has another opening on it.

Take into account the Shaker is supposed to work mostly at high speeds when it forces air into the intake, then think about how the faster you go the more the air pushes up and over the truck.
Leaving a "hollow" pocket of air above the hood/shaker.

cutting a hole in your hood for 7hp That scoop looks dwarfed on the f150 imo.

You think you get new hood with the shaker scoop? I dont really think you do.

 

Surely im not gonna spend $795 dollars on a scoop and thats it but im goingto cal them and ask and ill post an update.

 

The guys on "Horsepower TV" installed a shaker hood on "Project Nightmare" (mustang). They had to cut the hole themselves. Said the shaker kit come with the templates to cut it out.

 

maybe it will be diffrent with the f-150
