Possible torque converter shudder

I recently purchased a 2005 F150 standard cab (work truck). As this is my first Ford purchase, I need a bit of assistance. Engine is 4.6L V8, automatic tranny.

Prior to shifting into OD (between 45 - 55 MPH), the steering column and cab begins to vibrate as if I just ran over rumble strips.

I've read in this forum about possible torque converter shudder. Does this remain a problem for new trucks as well?

Before I head back to the dealer, would like to know what may be going on.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
Joe

your rumble strip description is right on.
I have experienced the exact same thing at the excact shift point.
The only difference is that my problem was in a 5.4 Lincoln Navigator. Dealer replaced torque converter and problem was solved.
