Gibson Performance Exhaust Systems

Recently I have been putting a lot of thought and consideration into addding a dual exhaust system into my truck. I have decided on adding a exhaust system on my truck for several reasons. I was looking for something to fit my budget and something that would not only add power, but also add a good look. I have been searching around and have found out that I like the gibson exhaust systems. I was wondering what you guys thought about them, and of the ones i am going to list which you guys like best. I'll first tell you the goals for my truck. I plan on making it into a race type truck (you all might laugh). I have an 04 5.4L v8 Lariat Supercab 4x4. So here has what I looked at. Whiile browsing the Gibson website I noticed that with all the exhaust systems it says that they will not void the factory warranty. I am not sure if this is true, so I am going to have to call and ask. Out of the exhaust systems I really like the Super Truck Exhaust yet I dont know if it would look good on my truck.

http://www.gibsonperformance.com/products.asp?pid=14294

It costs between $310 - $365 for the parts depending if you want it stainless or aluminized. I'd probably go with the stainless. Th e benefits for this exhaust system is that it adds on average 10-15hp and 15-20lb of tq. The only reason I am not sure about this exhaust system is because of the look and not knowing if it will fit the look of my truck. Eventhough I know the noise will

Another exhaust system I am looking at is the Split Rear Exhaust System.

http://www.gibsonperformance.com/products.asp?pid=17692

It costs between $375 - $510 depending on if you want it stainless or not. The benefits of this system is that it will add about 15-20hp. The only problem with it is that it may cause problems with the spare tire because of the location. I am not sure if this is my number one choice.

The last exhaust system I was looking at was the Extreme Dual Exhaust system.

http://www.gibsonperformance.com/products.asp?pid=14296

It costs between $375 - $510 depending on if you want it stainless or not. I just like the over all look to this exhaust system eventhough it does not list how much horse power it will add.

There you have my three choices. I really like my first choice with the Super Truck Exhaust because of the horse power and sound it is going to add. I am just not positive if it will look good on my truck. Please give me any suggestions or comments about the exhaust systems. Also does anyone know how much my dealership would charge me if i were to insall the Super Truck Exhaust system? I will argue to them about how much I can get my parts for, but I am not sure how much labor will be.

Thanks

I really like that look. Do you know if that voided your warranty? Because I would be willing to put it on, but I dont want anything to make my warranty go bad. I mean if I can put it on and save myself a lot of money in labor costs I would really love to do it, but if putting it on myself voids the warranty than I am not going to do it. Do you perhaps have a side view of your entire truck so I can see what it looks with everything added on. BTW how much noise difference was there, and did you feel any power added?

no effect on warranty except of course ur exhaust but a dealer cant refuse a warranty unless they can prove the part u installed directly effected the part that failed . And yes i noticed a power increase. i can post pics 2morrow

Thanks a lot, I think this is what I am going to go with. The only other thing is that I downloaded sounds off of the internet that compare the two's sounds and I am not sure if they sound is off, but the gibson doesnt sound any louder or any more powerfull. Is the rumble impressively loud? or is it equivelant to the stock exhaust. Because I wanted something really loud that would even be loud while idle.

I've read that Gibson isn't about sound....just performance.

Ive got a flowmaster 40 series on my truck... its not very loud.

I actually want it louder... but.. I only did single in/ single out because I didnt want to risk losing low end power. Single out exhaust should keep enough backpreasure so I dont lose power.

Its so quiet, my girlfriend didnt even notice I had it done. I kept revving it up while she was around and giving it more gas than usual... she still doesnt think anything is different and I aint gonna tell her. "SHOULD HAD SPENT THAT MONEY ON SOMTHING ELSE INSTEAD OF THAT DAMN TRUCK!"

whats up khendrix install true dual exhaust have a muffler shop cut the exhaust at the cross over pipe and run 2 21/2 inch pipes to 2 flowmaster40's and go 2 1/2 out right in front of rear tire better flow and its like the truck was made for true dual exhaust the way the cats are set up my dad did this in his 04 but used magnaflows. flowmaster 40's are the loudest on the market

The sound is fine... could be louder, but Its OK... as far as performance.. I look at it like a drag racer.

If I add all the pipes and mufflers to have a true dual set-up, any performance I gain will be lost with the weight I put on it. Plus, I dont want to spend that much money on exhaust on a naturally aspirated engine..... now, if it had forced induction... I would do somthing a little different.

Well, my truck is a little different.. regular cab short bed 5.4.... I could smoke the tires pretty much anywhere. My truck only tips the scales at about 5100 lbs. I still want it faster.

Hopefully my next mods will be underdrive pullies and e-fans. Then in a year or so, maybe 4.10 gear, or 4.30

Don't know where you keep getting this 7000lbs from, but my Lariat Scab weighs 5500lb on the local truck scale..
