2004 engine problems

I figured i would share my sad story with everyone.
Driving from CT to MO after Christmas, my 2004 lariat starting misfiring (while in a snowstorm), I was heading for a stopover in W VA and limped it along till I got to the town where i was headed. I brought it to a dealer first thing in the morning. They initially thought it was a coil pack. Since they didn't have any in stock they pulled one off a new truck on the lot. It didn't work.
I stayed an extra day in W VA to see what they could find out.
The next day they told me I had a broken valve spring and it would be a day or so before it came in. So I rented a car and drove my family home to St Louis. Over the next 2 days they tried a new valve spring and it still wasn't fixed. I then had to wait 3 days for a special compression testing tool to arrive. Once that part arrived they determined that there was some head damage and they were going to try and convince Ford to replace the engine. Ford ok'd the new engine and it is being installed this week. by the way, my truck had 7000 miles on it. So I have had this rental car for over 2 weeks now and I am paying a premium price since all they had was a mini-van. Ford says that I am out the money of the rental. I plan on taking this up with my dealer but they also said that they were not responsible for the rental.
Anyway, hopefully i will be able to pick up my truck this weekend (a 10 hour drive) The good news is that it will be Christmas for my family again as most of our presents were in the back of the truck where they remain today. DOes anyone know if Ford should help for the cost of hotel, car rental, time etc?
thanks for listening

Holy cow what an ordeal! I hope things work out. I have a feeling your local dealer may help pony up a few bucks to offset your troubles.

I would definitely try to get some $$ out of your dealer or Ford. You could also try your insurance company. Mine will reimburse me for up to a week in such a case.

Good Luck.

There'san old saying that the squeeky wheel gets the grease. I would be VERY squeeky if that happened to me. Every one that would listen at both the dealership and Ford Motor Company would hear from me daily until I got some compensation. Namely 100% of the rental car and the Motel...Kevin
