I am thinking seriously of putting the display unit for a remote mount radar detector in the ashtray. Is there an easy way to remove the side panels of the console under the dash or can the back of the ashtray area be reached if the glove box is removed?

Thanks for any help. This my first Ford truck and do not want to start off destroying pieces parts on a new truck.

 

Remove the surrond piece around the radio. It's a force fit piece so it will come out towards you with gentle force. You will have full access to the ashtray and can easily remove it by removing the 2 hex head screws that hold it in place. JP
