Need Pictures of Bed Extender Parts

Need some help. Bought a used 04 FX4 and the dealer owes me a bed extender. Reading here I see there are some grommets, etc that should be included. I will probably get one out of the next newer Ford they get in.

Could someone give me a list (or, even better, take a few pictures) of all the parts and pieces that should be included?

Much appreciated--

All that information is here on the board in an old post. The numbers are for the 01-03 Screw, but it will show you what you need to buy and do. All you will need are the part numbers for your 04. I have not heard if the same extender is used, but the 04 just looks different. I'll do a search and see if I can find it, and post it here for you. Then you can post the new part numbers when you order them.

Thanks greencrew.

The mega dealer I purchased the truck from believes it was stolen out of the truck on the lot. He is going to get me another one, so when he hands it to me I want to make sure its all there.

Therefore the part numbers aren't as important as the parts themselves.

Again, thanks to the contributors on this board. I am coming up to speed on my new truck quickly.

It's just one part if it came on the truck and missing.

If you had to install it you would need to purchase the mounting pins, and screw them.

If you want to make it difficult to steal you need to purchase two more of those plastic brackets and install them near the clips.

While this schematic is for an 01, I believe that the parts (mounting hardware and such) are the same.

Thanks RP.

The dealer listed the truck as having the extender, but I don't have any of the mounted truck hardware. Unless the thieves took that too (and I see no holes to indicate it), I'm going to get one from them anyway just because of the typo.

Either way, its a win-win for me. Thanks for the help.

ke,

The holes are already in the bed for the hardware, but they are not threaded. The hardware is self threading, but they are tough to thread in. If you don't have them on the truck already I take it the dealer will put them on for you.

If the window sticker or invoice lists a bed extender then the hardware will be there. It's simply a small post or pin on each side of the tail gate opening, right in the middle. Please let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the follow up greencrew-

I purchased the truck from a Nissan dealer. Its one of those mega dealers, that owns 7 of the 8 Nissan dealers in San Diego County. They also own a Ford and Chevy dealership, so they may need to buy it from them.

Behind the factory plastic bedliner I see the holes I think you are talking about. That could be a bear to thread, but I don't think Nissan is who I should trust to do this.

Haven't yet established a relationship with my Ford dealer (I don't live near their Ford dealer, different county)-time to plan it!

The hardware I received with my Ford bed extender for my 04 F150 had 4 plastic bushings that fit in the holes for the locking pins to go through in the closed and open positions. The pivot bolts are threaded and come with nuts which require the tail lamps to be removed in order to install, adjust, and tighten them. There is also an approx. 2 1/2" long torx bolt which goes in a threaded hole in the bottom right side of the tailgate opposite where the vertical rectangular slot is in the bed skirt (visible when the tailate is open). Make certain the dealer installs all the hardware your bed extender is supposed to have with it from Ford.
