how many years have you been driving pickup trucks? You've never seen a truck with the front bulkhead bent? Gotta get out more brother...

I think he was probably referring to new covers...

That is, unless you're thinking KR leather.

do you mean overdrive or lock-up torque converter?

My understanding was that the 4 sp was a 3 sp with OD on 3rd and the 5 sp in the Explorer was a 3sp with OD on 2 and 3.

I could be wrong but I didn't think Ford had any trannies with 4 true forward gears.

oh, and with the 8 gear logic, it would be 16 once you introduce the 4 Low range.

I'm thinking that if you have something slide forward and break out the back window if it did lower, this would indicate one thing: poor engineering. They obviously would have to strengthen the front of the bed, I can flex by hand now. The other part of the problem would be as several observed: idiots that don't know how to restrain cargo properly. That would be the owners fault, not the manufacturer.

If you had tie downs on the bed floor that retract into the floor or fold flush, you still would be able to use the entire bed.

The truck has a 4 speed trans. You can analyze it all day but in the end, it only shifts 3 times and then it doesn't shift anymore.

I do use the truck bed for most everything, but there is the occasion that I need to secure something since I don't have a locking tonneau. Folding seat back would be just the ticket.

I must agree with one point made, and coming from a Chevy fan this should mean something... The current Chevy's are, no kind way to put this... FUGLY with a capital FUG. That is the single biggest factor in my decision to jump ship and buy a FORD. Not to mention the fact the interior looks like crazy people slapped it together with spare parts... My old Chevy is probably ugly and not as good, but when you have a vehicle in the family for 14 years, it grows on you and you look at it like an old friend and not a vehicle. That's why I don't want to part with it. I would rather keep it a turn it into a money pit show truck than let it go to someone else who will probably trash it.

I think most of the suggestions others are making are worthwhile as well. Maybe if someone at FORD is reading this we can get a PERFECT truck.

Lastly, I'm not picking the truck apart, I'm simply pointing out things that I would like to see improved. EVERYTHING in this world can be improved on, even Brooke Burke , nothing is perfect. That said, I like my truck, I like it alot, but it COULD be better. I bought what I perceived to be the best Full Size Truck on the market. Everyone one of the other vehicles available does at least one thing better than the Ford. If I wanted the fasted/best engine, Dodge. If I wanted the best 4X4/tow rating, Nissan. If I wanted the best fuel economy/easiest to drive, Toyota (not really a full size truck in my opinion). Cheapest/Best deal, Chevy (hell, in NJ right now they are offering $10000 for ANY TRADE IN, push it, pull it, drag it, drive it in, $10000).

In the end, the F150 was clearly the best overall package. That is the reason I bought it.

KC-10 FE out...

After only a few weeks of ownership there are a couple of things I wish were available or standard on the F150.

1: Separate temperature controls for driver and passenger.

2: Memory seats in non-Lariats. Not everyone wants leather.

3: Better arm rest placement as previously mentioned

4: More power from the factory. (Yes, I am ordering a 1714 today)

Minor gripes of course. Overall very nice truck. This is my first Ford truck and so far, very impressed with it.

How are you getting out of first gear in 4 low?

"All Ford starters are on the column and all automatics have OD buttons."

My 04 Tbird has the key on the dash.

Everyone:

you have just described the Nissan Titan LE. My dad has one and I just bought an
F-150; the Nissan is absolutely kick-***. Has power everything including rear downward-sliding window, the armrests on the seat, 5-sp auto; tranny temp gauge...
If I could afford 30K for a truck, I would have definitely picked the Nissan.

On the other hand, I have a 5.4 Screw that set me back 24K flat out the door.

:-D

Bring a thread back from the dead
Keep in mind that i have an 05 FX4 screw.
My preferances would be (in no particular order):
1. Power seats would be all power. Not just the part your **** is on.also include the passenger seat.
2. Heated seat option in the FX4
3. Power door lock buttons on the rear doors
4. Stereo controls on the steering wheel
5. Back seat should fold down
6. Pillars should be the same color as the truck
7. Warranty ,as mentioned by someone else mabye 7/70
8. Power, "Fire the idiots who programmed the electronic throttle and transmission"...
9. Interior lights under the dash (to light up your floormats)

These are just preferances, other than that i love this truck

5-Speed Auto is a big one for me. Also, either find a way to lose some weight without effecting ride and sound insolation, or get more power.
