OK - I'm a short kinda pudgy guy - or maybe it should be kinda short and pudgy guy- who can't reach the inside of the front of the truck bed when standing on the ground. I've seen those steps you can purchase, but I didn't want a permanent step showing on the outside, especially since I only seem to have to access this part of the truck occassionally. So I designed a system that is cheap and holds me pretty steady. I can easily touch the inside base of the bed easily and quickly without hurting the truck. Of course, when I was showing my son this, he said 'why don't you just stand on the tire?' - smart@!! - besides, where is the fun in that?

Looks like a nifty idea. I think the problem that you're experiencing isn't uncommon as the bed height is DEFINITELY much taller!
