HELP! Questions about my catback Magnaflow!

I just installed the Magnaflow SIDO side exit 15827 in my 2004 F150 Screw. Everything went pretty smooth with the install. I ran the truck for about 2 miles (give or take) and noticed that a small amount of precipitation was dripping from the first joint (where I attached the new muffler to the stock catalytic conv. extension pipe). I also smell a RANK odor...like something burning (not good...I started to panick). I checked everything out. Loosened and retightened the clamp that attaches the muffler and verified plenty of clearance away from everything (no melting body panels, etc.).

My question is this. I have noticed with every new car I have ever purchased, they kinda smell "funky" after you have first driven them (like melting plastic type smells which go away after a day of driving). Is this crap "normal" or is there something somehow horribly wrong with the exhaust/my install?

Better be safe and check things closely.
However, it is normal for any thing you handle with skin oil, grease, to smell a little bad when it gets hot. New exhaust freqently 'stinks' a day or so. Headers would usually smoke and smell bad for the first couple drives after installation.
Good luck.
