Finished my stereo/DVD install....(pics!)
Well I finally finished my system install in my 04 Screw. I am VERY pleased with the entire system...its an ultra clean install that not only sounds great (both in sound quality and volume) but looks great too. I designed and installed the entire system myself. If you want to know more about any part of the install just ask.
The head unit is a Pioneer P6600DVD. Its a DIN size unit that has a 6.5 flip up touch screen. I also installed a DIN size DEQ7600 EQ/Sound Processor under the the HU....not only did this add infinit control of the system but it also filled the hole that would have been left had I just went with a single DIN size HU.
This is the dash with the HU closed:

I put my amps behind the rear seat. IMO this is the only place to put them in the truck. I went with Profile amps. They are not the most expensive amps BUT I have used them for years and they have never given me any trouble and they make great power and sound great. In other words GREAT BANG FOR THE BUCK! The big one is a AP2000 and it runs my subs. The small one is a Baja 400 and its running my front and rear door speakers.
I mounted the amps on two pieces of 1/4 plywood I cut to fit the rear cab wall and then covered in black leather.
I also mounted my XM reciever behind the back seat:

For the front doors I went with Alpine Alpine SPS-571A 6x8 Component Speakers. The mids were direct bolt ins but the tweeters were too big for the factory holes so I had to open them up a bit.
For the rear I went with Pioneer TS-A6870R 6X8s.
For the rear I went with Pioneer TS-A6870R 6X8s.
I put 6in Toshiba monitors in both front seat headrests. They can play DVDs through the indash unit or they have AUX inputs for a Playstation or whatever else you want to play. They also have headphone jacks (that way you can play a DVD for the rear seat passangers while you listen to the radio) and remotes.
The wireing for the headrest monitors is very clean.
This is the only exposed wire...it runs from a signal converter/power box behind the the trim panel up the seat back:

Wow!!!
Looks great! If I had that system in my truck, I would have to sit out all night with a scattergun, or it would disappear!!!
Gotta git me one of those garages one of these days!
GRRReat job!!!

Thanks for the nanners!!!
The install took me about 3 days...with a day or so of that for tuning and adjusting. To me the most important part of any install is neatness....I can not stand to see any wires and with this one the only exposed wire is the one shown above for the headrest monitors (and I think I am going to do something different to hide that wire soon.) With the back seat in you would never know there was anything behind it. Speaking of the back seat did anybody notices the seat clips in the pics above?? I cut the "locks" off so its not so hard to get the seat back in and out.
As for the cost, I already had the small amp and the subs....everything else came off Ebay. It was all brand new, but I "shopped" for the best prices for the last couple months. I got everything for less than half of Crutchfields prices! Plus another huge saving was the fact that I did the install myself. I would think if I had bought everything at Ciruit City and had them install it (which I know would not have been nearly as clean a install as what I did) I would have well over $4K in the system. As it is not counting my time for the install I have about $1750 in it!!!
