I don't have a F150 yet,

but in my '99 Dak, it is mounted up high by my rearview mirror. From what I've been raised on, the higher and more centered, the better. I have the 8500 too. Very pleased with it. 'Bout time for me to send it in for the $49.95 refurbishment.

Yeah I heard some talk of sending them in to have the newer technology compnents put in, is it only 49.00? Heck I only paid 30.00 for mine at a trade lot......

Left side of dash right next to the B pillar - it's a clear shot out the front and easy to hard wire.

I have an 01, but mounting options are similar......

I have the Passport 8500 X50 Blue.

Its mounted above the rearview mirror, and hardwired with the remote mute/alert light smart cord and the module is mounted on the steering wheel column behind the hazard flasher button.

BTW the X50 Blue Rocks....It picks up cops so far away, sometimes I think its a false alarm, then Bam !! over the 2nd overpass way up the road, there he is!!

Sorry no Pics

I also have the X50 BLUE, the best unit Ive ever had, and Ive had a lot of em. (anyone remember the SuperSnooper?)
Anyway mine is mounted on industrial strengh velcro in the exact center of the dash against the windshield. The wipers are indexed higher so they are above the line-of-sight of the X50 and it also allows it to see behind out the back window for those sneaky coppers following you!

sorry no pics either.

I mounted mine last night. It's right below the mirror. No exposed wires. I ran the wire along the passenger side head liner, behind the pillar, straight into the fuse box.
