Questions about Eagle 178 Wheels
I have a few questions for anyone who has the Eagle 18' 178 wheels.
1) What are the specs of the 178 that are made to fit the F-150?(offset etc.)
2) I just purchaced the autospring 2 inch front lift (1.5 spacer). Will this lift in the front be enough (with no other mods) for the Eagle 178 wheels with Nitto Terra Grappler 325 60 18's? Will 325 65 18's rub?
3) How do you guys think they will look in Chrome on a silver 04 FX4 Crew with black accents? (brush guard, side tubular steps, etc.) They make them with a polished finish but I have heard that they are very hard to keep clean!
4) How do they hold up in the winter conditions of road salt and sand? Have you experenced any damage from winter driving?
5) How far will they stick out with the 325 60 18 tires?
6) How is your ride affected with this set up?
Thanks in advance for any answers or ideas!

If you go to Eagle's website, www.americaneaglewheel.com, you can view the specs for the wheel. That wheel is only available in 18x9 with 5 inches of backspacing. I think they would look great on your truck. I think that a 325/65-18 will be too big with just a leveling kit. That tire is basically a 35x13.50-18. I'd go with the 325/60-18 (34x13.50), if you are only gonna lift it 2 inches. I've seen the 325 Nitto's on those rims run with a 2.5 inch lift and it looked great.
1. There is only one size available in this wheel. 18x9. 5"BS. 6 on135mm. +2mm offset. You're only option is chrome or polished.
2. I have a Rancho 4" lift with Nitto TG 325/65 R18. And I had a very small amount of trimming to get the full clearance. I think some guys are getting the 65s under there but you're better off with the 60s. Search the forum. This has been discussed several times already.
3. Spend the extra few bucks and get the chrome.
4. No road salt and sand here in NM. I can't imagine that being a factor.
5. See my gallery for pics.
6. Ride has been great. A little stiffer with my suspension set-up. Lot's of guys love the Nittos. I am one of them.
Good luck. JP

Thanks for the info!
Do you guys think the chrome finish on the 178 Eagle has a protective coating. I heard that if not, it will be scratched by sand and other crap.

Chrome is the protective coating. The polished wheels are not coated, they are bare, polished aluminum. Polished aluminum looks great, but it requires regular polishing to keep it looking good.
The 325/60R18 sticks out just perfect, IMO. Just even with the factory running boards.
Gives the truck a great, aggressive stance.

I had to do a *little* trimming - but only to the lariat wheel lip molding at the rear of the well. I just snipped about an inch off the plastic molding at a diagonal, and everything's fine. This is inside the wheel well, so its not noticeable.
I got the wheels and tires from my local Discount Tire. The total package with tax was a little over $2000.

jperea,
Please give us the contact info for the place where you bought yours. The tires are $201 at discount tire, but the cheapest i have seen the rims are $215. You apparently only paid 162.50. Even if its a local shop I would be more than happy to call, order, and pay the shipping. Or if they have a website even better.
I have been doing searches all morning and the only tire I can find for the 18 inch rims is the 325/60/18 which equates to about 34 in tires. Does anyone know a 33 in tire that is being made for the 18 in rim?

The 325/60R18 is actually closer to 33". Nitto says 32.99" but if you do the math they're actually 33.36" or so...

Actually I have the 325/65R18 not the 60s. Thats why the difference in price. I got the rims from a local shop called performance off-road. I know they are a national store. They may have been cheaper because eagle alloy has a big distribution house here in Albuquerque. I don't have the contact info available to me now.
