2004 F150 below X-plan price?

I have read a few places about people getting a new truck for $500 or $1000 below X-plan pricing, plus keeping all the rebates. How is this done? I already have an X-plan PIN...do I just tell the dealer "I qualify for the X-plan, but you have to knock off another $1000 before I buy it."?

How 'desparate' are dealers in the last week of the year?

.... I am sitting on an offer now that is $815 below x-plan price. Don't even mention x-plan. You can do much better then xplan price by just plan old nego.

I may wait until after 1/3/04 before I buy................ I have a feeling ford will come up with some type of 04' clearance sale. There are tons of 04 f150 trucks on the lots in the atlanta area........

X plan is a couple hundred under invoice, but invoice includes some dealer hold back and finance money. If the dealer is willing to move vehicles he will give up some of that holdback. It depends on the vehicle, and becomes more likely at the end of the month in the last hour of the day.

For example, the dealer hold back on a $32,000 truck may be $900 and the finance money just over $200. If you have a pin, you can ask to see the invoice, and those numbers will be listed there.

X plan is a no ****er number, so you would not mention that, and just play the normal sales negotiation game.

The salesman may get a min of $100 for the sale, plus 25% for each hundred over invoice. You will be more likely to get $500 under invoice from the sales manager.

For an 04 I wouldn't mention the X-plan because you should be able to get under it by just negotiating.

For an 05 you might have to use it because the dealer will be way less likely to negotiate with you because he still has 04's on the lot.
