Lifted 6" Truck Owners need your help/suggestions
Ok first I have tried to search but can't find the tire link that helps someone know what size tire they have or to help me order tires.
Second after showing my wife alot of these sweet lifted trucks (too many names to mention) she has bought off on a 6" lift (didn't think I was a lifted truck guy till I saw so many look so da** good) FABTECH after our taxes come back.
So I would like to keep my KR rims (18") looking at 35's still trying to decide on which ones to get but I have time for that. What I am trying to figure out is the size I can put on my rims and would I need a spacer? I was reading about that in another thread someone had to use on their truck.
If you could just send me in the right direction with a link etc..
Lastly, just want to get some more info before making the jump up.
what is the most anyone has towed with their lifted truck, shouldn't really cause the front end to be higher if towing a boat should it? Does it really take away from your payload?
Thanks in advance

I am also interested in a lift for my '04 FX4, but have one question before I dive into researching which lift is right for me.
Does adding an aftermarket lift affect the warenty? If so how do you keep the warenty intact and still add the lift?
Thanks,
Tim

Here is what I know and I am no expert...
Your tire size should be found in the owners manual or I'm sure you could find it on Fords website
35's might be tight on the stock rims because they are such narrow rims. Some guys are doing it even though the tire manufacturers reccomend against it. I wanted to keep my lariat rims but I had to go for something wider. Look at the specs for the tires that you like and see what rim width they require.
Not sure what you mean by spacer but you shouldn't need one.
I don't really know about the towing issue because I don't have anything to tow.
As far as warranty. It is usually done by a dealer to dealer basis and they have to prove that the problem was directly caused by the aftermarket lift. My dealer hasn't had issue 1 with my lift and usually compliments how the truck looks. Obviously, if I went in and said that the suspension is riding too stiff they would tell me to take a hike.
That's the best I can do for now but I'm sure some much smarter guys than me will post some better information.

The warranty like stated above i belive is on a dealer to dealer basis . When i purchased my lift kit and tire package at the dealer they installed it with no problems . they said it wouldnt matter to them .. which was cool

I would not put 35"s on your OEM rims. I think think the lowest recommended width I found for 35"s was 9". I could be wrong but for some reason that number is stuck in my head. If you're going 6" Fabtech I am pretty sure they recommend 315/70R17 size tires. Which is just shy of a 35". I would not go any smaller or the truck may tower over the tires and look a little funny. I would definitely look at 35" with a 6" lift. I have the Nitto Terra Grappler and really like them.
I have a 4" Rancho Lift and tow a 19' open bow Larson. I had to use a 4" drop on the hitch to level the boat trailer. Everything seems cool when I am cruising at 80mph. The boat and trailer have a gross weight of 3600lbs. with a tongue weight of 350lb. The truck still rides very level. I can't speak for the 6" lift but I have not encountered any problems with a 4" lift, 35" tires and a 3500lb boat. Except for gas mileage (horrible). But thats a whole other thread. Post pics when you're done!! JP
J Perea, you got a full 6.5" front and 4" rear on your 4" Rancho!
I'm in Albuquerque too, I've got Carriage Works Billet Grilles and Autospring 2.5". I'd like to go with the Rancho but it looks as tall as the Fabtech and ProComp and probably won't fit in the garage. That Bad Apple is one sharp truck!

Good to meet you. I had the same concerns about getting the vehicle in the garage. That's why I had to keep it at 4". My garage opening is 82" high. My truck fits in with about 1.25" of clearance. I did some very careful calculations because I really wanted to go 6". Anyway, with the 4" lift and 35" tires I can get under anything 82" high. Measure your garage, you may be able to get it in. JP
