Truck Died

I was driving home tonight and making a corner in my neighborhood and my truck just died. The message center stated "Low Oil Pressure", though the guage read perfect. I checked the oil, nothing wrong there. The truck is an '04 with about 1800 miles on it. Any ideas? I'm guessing it's just a sensor problem, but I have no clue.

I haven't checked the F150, but had a GM years back that had the fuel pump wired to the oil pressure switch.

Switch went bad and would short out and car would die. No oil warning light, just the part that bridged the fuel pump circuit.

Man, was that a bit__ to figure out.

My truck also did this, the common thread appears to be low RPM's around corners. Please go to the NHTSA website and log a complaint about this. If they get enough reports they'll make Ford resolve this issue. It's a matter of time until one of us gets killed because of this defect.

I did have my PCM reflashed with a new program and it hasn't done it since. My truck is from the KC plant, built 8/04.

There is a service bulliten out for this issue and our trucks. Just take it to the dealership and they will fix it. It happened to me a few times before it was fixed.

Mine is also a 8/04 KC build. I'll get it checked out at the dealer. Thanks for the info.

The truck did it again today, this time in heavy traffic as I was slowing down at a stoplight, no turn involved.

I haven't had time to make it to the dealer. Do you guys know what is the fix so when I do get it in to the dealer, or should they already be aware of the problem?

Are you running any aftermarket parts such as tuners, exhaust, air raid, k&n etc....?? If not, it could be anything...

No aftermarket accessories of any kind. The truck has 1689 miles on it. I'm really confused and a little irritated right now. I feel lucky to not have any of the other major problems including vibration, but after coming from owning 2 Honda cars with absolutely 0 problems and over 150k a piece I am a little dissatisfied. I looked at the Nissan Titan really hard, but just couldn't bring myself to buying the Japanese truck. Hopefully I don't have any more problems show up!

And I'm doing my survey right now, poor Ford!

I just had this happen yesterday, ws going slow and making a right turn. Has somebody who had this problem been able to get it fixed and know what it was, I often have to give the dealer hints when fixing my problems. I would greatly appreciate it. I have already had the air flow/throttle body spacer or whatever it was that was throwing it into limp mode replace so I dont think thats it. Thanks

No need to search.. Larry is here. I had the same problem as well as many others. I'll tell you what it is - go directly to your dealer, do not pass go, don't collect 200 dollars, and get your PCM reprogrammed. There is a TSB issued for this as mentioned earlier in this post. Get it done fast.. don't wait or you may end up in a fender bender.

Sounds like it needs a Microsoft hotfix Software glitch.

Just floor it going around corners if you dont want to take it to the dealership for the repair.
