HI folks!

I´m going to make a travel to Yosemite and is mandatory to use tire chains, I have the 18¨wheels and 272 65 1 tires. Where can I buy and what brand is reliable and reasonable $$.

I´m new in this matter and I never use chaines before.

Thanks for your help

I would suggest checking with Pep Boy's. I was just in the market for some chains for my 4X4 2003 Ranger with the nice factory alloys and was concerned about the heavy, regular type chains chipping the alloy wheels. Did an internet search and decided, yes - looks like about $125. Then decided to check with Pep Boy's and they had the very same, cable chains with the aggressive pattern - out the door for $85 with tax. I mentioned to the counter sales person that they were cheaper than the internet. He said I sure hope so and was curious as to my best internet price. I think they intend to compete with the internet and would suggest giving them a call.

Be sure to go with the Class 'S' Type chain as your owners manual says, due to limited clearences on the inside of the tire. See this link:

www.tirechains.com what else? They have the easiest set of chains to install on any vehicle. I have no idea why anybody would use the old style chains unless they were plowing. No need to worry about clearance on a truck but these chains will even fit on low profile wheels. Work great, I pull my neighbors out of the ditch with them every winter.
