? for those with Ford Gold start

I had my Gold Start/alarm installed by the dealer. They hadnt hooked it up correctly so I brought it back today to get corrected. They didnt have the horn hooked up at all so it didnt sound the horn when the alarm went off and didnt honk the horn for confirmation etc....

They also didnt hook up the wires to allow the keypad to disarm the alarm.

So they corrected it today.

My question is, when I got to work after leaving the install shop I armed the alarm and then hit the button a few more times to hear the confirmation honk to make sure they did what they said they would. Then about 15-20 seconds later after I had walked away I heard it honk the horn another time. Is that second honk normal...?

when u double lock the doors you get the first honk which is to confirm the doors are locked, the honk after that is the dome light going out which is a trigger for the alarm system, the honk your hearing is the alarm saying i am now armed it is completely normal.

i have been installing the ford RMST/RKE/VSS systems for about 3 years now and for them not to hook that stuff up on a gold is just **** poor workmenship in my opinion.

I agree... It was a third party install shop they get to do their electronics installs...

On top of not installing the stuff right he told me when I dropped the car off the first time that the Ford unit was poor quality and he wouldnt put it in his car for anything in the world. I cancelled my apointment right then.

But the dealers customer service manager (who I know pretty well) addressed the problem. And got me almost a free install. So I gave them a chance. I will not go back again for anything. Just because of this wiring problem...

Thanks for the info. That is kinda what I thought but your confirmation helps!!!!

well i hope all your concerns have addressed, as far as our system i won't lie and say its perfect because its not, but it is a very good system when installed correctly. the problem we face is ford is slow to react to tech changes, it would be nice if our systems had the new FM two way tech like aftermarket systems.

i personaly have had gold systems, in my 02 windstar, 03 F150, and now my new 04 F150 and they have always worked well for me.
