Cold air through the steering wheel
Cold air through the steering wheel
Now that it is getting cold here my buddy noticed something about his lariat.
when he was driving at 18 degrees farenheight he noticed that there was a stream of very cold air coming in under the lower edge of the "horn pad" on his steering wheel.
Anyone else notice this yet? I'm going to check mine this afternoon when I run a few errands.

I thought I was stoned, or imagining things, now I know im not crazy!! Your right, its a draft coming from what feels like the steering wheel...... OMFG, im glad someone else spoke up before I made an *** out of myself.....
I'd look at the firewall under the master cylinder where the steering shaft goes through. Might be a loose grommet or something letting air in. Or let your dealer figure out where the cold air is coming in and plug the hole.

It's actually a new touch feely bonus feature for roud rage prone drivers. The cool air is primarily directed towards the crotch area (notice how it flows from the BOTTOM of the horn pad). This feature, however, usually only works on male drivers. Female drivers have shown to be resistent to this particular cool air calming feature.
One unfortunate side effect of this feature is that the male driver (when existing the vehicle) often times feels somewhat less of a man...so to speak. Scientists (the more comical ones anyway) point to a Seinfeld episode where the character George had what he called 'shrinkage' after he took a swim in a cool swimming pool. Same concept.

Oh, I almost forgot. You probably won't find this in your user manual because it's been hush, hush. But the official designation for the vent you found under the steering wheel cover is 'CCV' (Crotch Cooling Vent).
