Question Resetting memory in PCM?

Is there any trick to resetting the memory in the PCM (IOW, erasing "learned" driving habits)? I've had some pinging at WOT, lately. Usually, it's very hot and humid here, but has been cold and clear (at times) during the past few weeks. When entering the highway, there's an audible knock. I'm guessing it's due to a lean condition caused by the drastic change in weather conditions that could be corrected by erasing the settings learned during warm/humid times.

In my 2000 L, we used to just unhook the negative cable and turn on the lights for a few seconds (to erase residual memory) before racing. Will that trick still work? Any other/better/safer ways to clear "learned" behavior?

Thanks.
