king ranch or Lariat

What are the options with the King over the Lariat I know about the nice "Castano Leather" and a few cosmetic things . I did not know about the folding mirrors ? What else do you get for about $10g's more ? I think my next truck will be the Lincoln f-150.

$10K? Huh?

Base on a Lariat F-150 is: $30,740
Base on a KR F-150 is: $36,635

It's less than 6K difference.

Anyway, to address your specific question... The KR has the Castano leather interior which features 100% leather interior (versus having leather seating surfaces on the lariat). The KR does have the power folding mirrors and puddle lamps as a standard feature. Running boards are also standard. You've already noted the cosmetic stuff (beige bedrails and different badging -- among others).

The KR package is an interior 'spiff' package. Yes, Ford makes a larger profit on such a truck, hence, that's the reason they've unveiled it in SuperDuty, F-150 and, later in the 05 year, a KR Expedition.

The KR isn't for everyone. It's a labor of love for those of us who have them and love them. The upkeep on the leather is more intense and requires more TLC. Spill something on it and you're going to have a stain that is typically tough to remove. Even with those labors, I've never heard a KR owner say that they wished they went with the Lariat or that they didn't think the money was worth it.

The bottom line is this; if you're iffy on the KR, you need to get the Lariat.

It's your money... good luck with your decision and let us know if you have any other questions...

I know I'd screw the seats up in a King Ranch sooner or later, so I don't see that country Cadillac in my future anytime soon. They are awful purty though.

I probably dont have much of an opinion considering im only 16 years old.... but my family has had ALOT of ford trucks considering theres 5 kids and im the youngest so ive seen quite a bit.... from lariat, king ranch, and my good ol STX..... anyways my opinion is id rather not pay more to have more upkeep.... shouldnt it be the other way around? I like the fact that my STX has no carpet! and the fact that theres no wood dash and stuff, I know for sure I would have only messed it up! Like I said im only 16 and i wouldnt doubt it if you shrug me off but I dont think ill ever buy a "luxury truck", seems like and oxymoron to me.....

PS - my dads even the one who almost purposely scratched my bed a week afte ri got he.... he said "now its a truck.... keep breaking it in and it might be a good one one day"

Your opinion counts as much as anybody's. When I was 16(34 now ) I thought the same way you do. All I wanted to do was drive, no time for upkeep! As I got older and worked alot of hard jobs over the years a little luxury is a nice thing. Since I spend so much time driving. My next truck will be a Lariat. I need that comfort!

Hey RockyPick - can you get the KR w/o that stupit flow-through center console?

I'm guessing no, and I also think I'll be screwed out of my Lincoln LT for the very same reason...

CrAz3D - just for info you can get carpet in the stx and xl, but anyways some ***** banged up my truck to... you can tell it was a door in one place but there a big chunk of paint out of another and i have no idea what happened there.... i wasnt very happy about it and it kinda ties into the whole "eating crow" thread but i dont want to get into that

You can't, I was trying to get mine that way because I like the F250 KR but couldn't justify the extra money.

Let me add this about the choice. As you can see from my signature above that I had an 02 XLT which I loved but when I got a green light to get a new truck I was shooting for an F250 KR figured let me just shoot the works. Well after opening the door that was it hadn't even climbed into the drivers seat and I knew this was what I wanted. Long story short couldn't justify the copy of a SD PS so it was an F150. I took out a loaded Lariat loved the way it drove but wanted the KR.

So I think you should take them both out for a test drive and decide. I figured I am going to keep this truck for awhile so I went with the top of the line.

Even my kids are working with me to keep it top shape (It was raining one day and after we had climbed in the truck my son asked for one of the towels that I keep in the truck(tan to match the floor color) so he could wipe off some water that had gotten in the truck) more than they were with the other truck.

Don't expect that to last much longer since it is only going on a month old.

Just my .02 cents

Good luck with your choice.

As I get older I'm starting to understand why all the seniors I see are driving vehicles like Lincolns and Crown Vics.
