Engine Knock On 5.4 3v 2005

Any body have this problem yet?
When engine is cold no adnormal noise, after engine is @ operating tempature while stopped @ a traffic light or in park @ idel speed you can hear a knock from inside of cab with windows up a/c & radio off, it almost sounds like a main bearing knock, after rasing hood you can hear the knock is comming from valve train and you can also hear a ticking noise that sounds like a lifter could be an injector.
Taking into dealer monday to have this checked, dealer stated that this was not normal.
Engine is running great.

The only noise I hear when I raise my hood is what I'm assuming are those super long timing chains...Kevin

It could be the fuel rails; the 04’s & 05’s have really noisy injectors

Cam phasers.

Drivers side started knocking within the first 2 weeks of new.
Not the normal injector tick but a knock like a baby power stroke.
Only after warm and real loud around 1200 rpms.

That was a joke at my dealer getting that fixed.but they did finally get it right.

10,000 on truck now and no problems

I had the engine knock that you described. It started at approximately 2,000 miles. I noticed my engine would knock at around 500-600 rpm’s. It was not noticeable above 600 rpm’s. The knock was coming from the front passenger side cylinder. It was very noticeable inside the cab and when parked next to a wall. I stuck a long handle screwdriver up to listen to it and it was defiantly knocking. I took it to the dealer to have it looked at, along with the other problems, and indeed it was something to do with the cam phasers. It was adjusted and now it’s very quite except for the normal injector or lifter noise. Hope it will stay that way and not come back. That noise was nothing compared to the rear-end whining noise at 45-50 MPH. It sounded like a dog howling. The pinion gear had to be replaced in the rear. I have read here in the forums that it’s only a temporary fix and the rear end noise will come back. They say the only way to remedy the rear end noise is to get a whole new rear Axle. I had to have the transmission pump replaced too because it would not go into reverse sometimes. All is good for now and it’s the quietest vehicle I have ever owned.
