BF Goodrich Flatspots?

I am a tire distributer. We specialise in mainly Ford dealers and sell alot of these tires as OE replacements.
Yes cost is a factor also. Im sure when the F-150 was in the engineering phase BFG came in with the lowest numbers.
I heve not herd of any problems with theses tires and living in cleveland the wather changes daily (cold to more cold).
I think they are of good quality. No, they are not at the top of BFGs list, but they are still good tires.
If you are haveing issues with yours I reccomend contacting your dealer and BFG directly. It is possibly they are defective, it happens.
My truck came with the General TR's. Not bad tires but not my first choice. I wish it had Michelin LTX M/S, those are the best (on road) truck tire money can buy, but money is the factor there. Just about $800 for the set vs. the under 300 for the set for the BFG and generals most F-150s have.
Ford and BFG are aware of the flat spot issue. They have a somewhat new manufacturing process that makes the tire safer but at the same time flat spot even over night. When the dealer performs diag on any vibration issue with these tires/trucks they are told to drive them up to 30 miles to remove the flat spot factor. Also the trucks are shipped from the factory with high air pressures to keep flat spotting to a min. then the dealer sets the pressures correctly
Mine goes to dealer today with the tsb all printed out for them.
I had a very very small nibble at 65-75 with stock tires I had nittos and aftermarket wheels installed at the 4X4 shop..They had a spin balancer and when they got done the nibble was still there even smaller than before!
I had the dealer RF balance and the tech said one had to be indexed and the other three were way out of balance......Truck sat on a 30 degree day for two hours before they put it on the lift....The nibble was five times worse.....We'll see today what gives maybe the nittos flat spotted or the tech didn't center lock the tires on the machines arbor.....
