Rocky,

Thanks for the heads up. Did you install them yourself or pay to have them put in? Was it an easy DIY type of install?

Did it myself. For the rears it was a little time consuming only because I didn't have the proper depth 18mm socket. There is little room to swing a wrench and my 1/2" drive socket was too long and the ratchet was hitting the truck bed. A 3/8" drive 18mm deep socket would have been easier.

I rotated my tires at the same time since I had to pull them for access anyway.

(edit- The 2004/2005 trucks should be even easier to do the rears since they are outside of the springs. Sockets, wrenches a floor jack and a couple jackstands should handle it.)

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but where did eveybody purchase their Ranchos shocks for their 04-05? My Dad has been checking and all teh local places tell him they not yet available for an 04 S-Crew 4x4. I think they are feeding him some BS, especially after reading this.

We are waiting to do the Autospring leveling kit until we can do the shocls at the same time.

TIA!!!

I have the same question as sacramentojoe. How do the RS5000's compare? I don't need adjustable shocks. I go offroad twice and year and tow a trailer about twice a year.

please list the part #'s of the shocks you all have listed. i have the part numbers for the bilsteins. need them for monroe, rancho etc.

also, describe how new shocks changes the ride/drive characteristics of your new truck.

i get a lot of quiver in my steering wheel, a lot of rebounce. i'm wondering if new shocks will get rid of this. this is a hard question to get answered.

I purchased Lariet shocks (all 4) off ebay for $30. I really liked how the XLT rental I had rode. I figured that the Lariet is using the same shock. I am waiting till weather clears up some to put them on.

I just helped a buddy change his, you could have had his old ones for free. But he put them in the trash where they belonged.

I pull a 21ft Ranger about twice a week what would yall recommend. If you change the front what all is involved, I have replaced rear shocks on trucks before but never the front.

ummmm.....
I answered that earlier in this thread. Should I repeat myself? Should I repeat myself?

JT- The fronts are easier than the rears. Jack up the frame and let the hub hang down at full extension, unbolt the nut at the top and two nuts at the bottom and the shock drops out of the spring.

I read few Ford forum and most of them said Rancho 9000 is good and you can adjust riding stiff or soft to your perfer personal and is believe they re now avaiable. I saw in Moss Catalog.

Bilstein that i m a big fan...

I read one of good comment about it and one mentioned that it has the CORRECT value pressure gas for our trucks and way much better than POS stock shocks.

You can find more info on bilstein thru search...

YOMAN!
