Ive been contemplating the same thing on my STX. I think I will remove m ine this weekend. It does look a little boring with it on, especially mine I think. And yes, wax build up, never thought of that one.
I am also concerned on paint now though...... I have had mine a year now. Will it rip off paint? And I am in Florida.

if you've been running it down in Fla. with all the temperatures
and stuff for over a year, you may run into the dreaded paint shade look YYuuukkk !!! you may want to keep it on.
As for whether or not to take it off when its still fairly new, that
would be an owners preference indeed, i myself like my 4x4 stickers and will keep them on....

Remove It!
I just took the STX stickers off of my blazing Yellow truck and it looks great. Take a hair dryer and heat the sticker for a minute or so, grab a corner and it will just peel right off.
If it will ever stop raining in south Texas, I will post a few pics of my new wheels and removed stickers.

I just got my FX4 this weekend - got home late at night - so first thing in the morning those stickers were gone.
Same thing with the 4x4 stickers on my last F350.
Looks a lot cleaner without all that extra "stuff".
As soon as I took off the stickers, I removed the tube steps, and then headed to the tire store to get the tires flipped to show the black side and get rid of the white letters.
I like it a lot better - but you know what they say about opinions....
